Love Forever (Poem)

The fingers creep across my cheek.

The cold touch chills to the bone.

His lips crawl down my neck.

Leaving stale breath all alone.

A dry tongue, coarsely swipes my ear.

I lean away, but pulled tighter.

My dry tears won't fall.

He smiled and called me "a fighter."

I smile back and turn away,

feeling completely empty inside.

I cannot help but think back,

to the very day he died.

"How's this possible? How can this be?"

"You have died. You are dead!"

Stroking my hair and my face,

"My love is forever," he said.
